Whip It Rank

How It Works

Points Calculation

The Whip It Rank uses a points-based system to rank drivers across race events. Points are awarded based on finishing position in each main event.

Base Points by Position

Position Points
1st25 points
2nd22 points
3rd20 points
4th18 points
5th16 points
6th15 points
7th14 points
8th13 points
9th12 points
10th11 points
11th+10 points, decreasing by 1 per position (minimum 1 point)
DNS (Did Not Start)0 points
DNF (Did Not Finish)0 points

Special Event Multiplier

Special events receive a 2x multiplier on all points. This means:

  • Regular events: Points = Base Points × 1.0
  • Special events: Points = Base Points × 2.0

For example, winning a special event (1st place) awards 50 points (25 × 2.0) instead of 25 points.

Leaderboard Ranking

The leaderboard uses a "Top 5 of Last 8" system to calculate each driver's total points:

  1. Last 8 Events: Only results from the most recent 8 events for each class are considered.
  2. Top 5 Results: From those 8 events, only the driver's 5 best results (by points) are counted toward their total.
  3. Total Points: The sum of those top 5 results determines the driver's ranking.

Why This System?

This approach provides several benefits:

  • Flexibility: Drivers can miss up to 3 events and still have their best 5 results count.
  • Consistency: Rewards drivers who consistently perform well, not just those who race every event.
  • Competitiveness: Allows drivers to drop their worst results, keeping the competition fair and engaging.

Example

Imagine a driver has participated in 6 of the last 8 events with the following results:

  • Event 1: 1st place (25 points)
  • Event 2: 3rd place (20 points)
  • Event 3: 5th place (16 points)
  • Event 4: 2nd place (22 points)
  • Event 5: 4th place (18 points)
  • Event 6: 1st place in special event (50 points - 25 × 2.0)
  • Event 7: Did not participate
  • Event 8: Did not participate

Their top 5 results are: 50, 25, 22, 20, 18

Total Points: 135 (50 + 25 + 22 + 20 + 18)
